Drift any car without editing handling lines!
This script simply gives your car a little more power during a slide, enabling you to maintain speed and angle.
This script will not work properly alongside any other script that modifies the player's vehicle's engine power or torque.
v1.1:
-Added Deadzone option
-Restricted script to only affect cars and, optionally, quadbikes
You will need Alexander Blade's C++ Scripthook (http://gtaforums.com/topic/788343-vrel-script-hook-v/)

@raheemlee @aloyalLPfan Remember every car handles differently. They aren't all going to drift the way you want. You have to learn to drift them all differently, just like if you were learning to drift in real life. If they oversteer, you need to modify how you are steering and how much gas you're giving. I personally prefer drifting the Comet. Tons of control and angle with that one.
I am using this mod along with the realistic handling mod, but added a better steering lock to the R35 which replaces the Elegy2. Here's a link to a video showing how more like real life drifting can be: https://youtu.be/QmvR3lFxdm0
@InfamousSabre it seems this mod breaks the ems upgrades as the acceleration meter will not change with this mod installed
@Blackleaf420: Sorry, what are ems upgrades?
@InfamousSabre the engine upgrades
how did you make you camera lock in the third vid?
How to install
@InfamousSabre What the values for the deadzone though? Is the value I add to the file the angle? How does it work exactly so I can figure out what value to use?
@joaolisboa: yes, it's the angle.
Long time Drift Assist user here, just wanna say how well this mod improves drifting. I'm currently on vanilla handling (waiting for Realistic Driving update), and specifically for vanilla it is the best drift mod out there, though you gotta tweak assist and deadzone options to which will suit you.
Didn't notice before Blackleaf420 mentioned it, but it really somehow breaks engine upgrades, though, when I loaded game without this mod, my cars with upgraded engines had correct values. It would be good to see it fixed but it's not really such a big deal.
One thing I'm curious about: is it possible to remove or tone down countersteer somehow? On some cars (like Issi) it's just way too hard and throws car in opposite direction as soon as you release turning to balance car while drifting. That's the only thing which I'd really like to get rid off. I notice countersteering even in handling.meta mods, no idea what settings may be responsible for it...
Is this still to be used with Realistic Driving 2.0?
Good job, thanks.
I like this drifting mod for it's simplicity and not having to use key presses/holds in order to get the desired effect. Simple operation, zero hit on resources and easily configurable in the ini. Great job!
@Forrest Gimp bump, can you fix this engine upgrade problem @InfamousSabre
Best drift mod for gtaV. If anybody doesn't like it it's because it's realistic & hard. Nailing high speed drifts is so much more satisfying in this mod than the others...
@Forrest Gimp use Custom Steering to eliminate the counter steering
@Weirdoutworld I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Coincidentally for me, the Tampa Drift is best easiest car to use. What are some other cars (with stock handling data) that this mod works very well with?
its not working on my skripthook loading
doesnt work
how do i activate it when loaded?
source?
